Visit of Riga Management College Representatives at the Faculty of Business Management
On June 26–27, 2025, the Faculty of Business Management at Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (VIKO) hosted Ainārs Brencis and Oskars Garkājs, representatives from Riga Management College (RMC), Latvia, for a two-day networking and project planning visit.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the Nordplus Adult programme project (No. NPAD-2025/10312) as a preparatory visit aimed at exploring opportunities to jointly develop a project on the topic “Smart Use of Digital Technologies in Tourism – A Guidebook for VET Learners”.


The visit began with an introduction to both institutions and a tour of the laboratories of the Faculty of Business Management. RMC representatives had the opportunity to explore the teaching infrastructure and gain insights into study programmes, applied research activities and practice-based learning methods of the Faculty. The next session focused on sharing experiences from previously implemented projects under various funding programmes, including Nordplus, Erasmus+, Horizon and others. The discussion, led by the Head of the Training and Cooperation Development Division Laima Paraukienė and Project Manager Paulė Stulginskaitė, provided valuable insights into project planning, engagement of target groups and partner collaboration. The delegation also met with the Vice-Dean of the Faculty Aušra Turčinskaitė-Balčiūnienė and the Head of the Tourism Department Jolita Variakojienė to discuss current trends and challenges of education and tourism in Latvia and Lithuania.
Special attention was given to the evolving role of educational institutions in preparing future professionals for sustainable and innovation-driven tourism sectors. The first day concluded by outlining potential directions for future project development.
The second day of the visit focused on co-creating the future project concept. Delegates discussed the problem statement, overarching goals, expected outcomes and possible target audiences. A key focus was placed on defining the conceptual framework and possible outputs that could support the shift of tourism sector towards digital solutions. Further discussions addressed the possible allocation of institutional roles, project management strategies, budget planning and implementation timelines. The session also explored methodological approaches to ensure the delivery of measurable and impactful results.
The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to draft a project proposal for the Nordplus programme for the 2025–2026 period.
